Subtle Harlot

Object 003 - N.011 : On the Town

This is part of a series as I document the life of a dress worn and lived in, in one real life, in the Highlands of Scotland. Object 003: Highland Mess Dress

I had a great night at the Black Isle bar and An Seòmar this weekend. We were there for the IMOUT festival with local bands and singers.

I started the night with a venison and mushroom pizza, obviously. It's SO good. And I felt so weird letting it drip on my dress but I'd say a Black Isle Bar venison pizza is a solid part of who I am when it comes to living in Inverness. So on it goes.

Spilt my beer...dress to the rescue!

Before heading off to An Seòmar, I reapplied my lipstick and blotted it on the dress like my mum used to do on a tissue.

Then there was an accidental spill on my dress, which was quite funny really. We started joking that the dress has it's own magnetic pull for stains now.

There was a lot of joking about using my dress in place of toilet paper, because (unfortunately but predictably) An Seòmar had none in any of the women's stalls from the start of the night. Don't even get me started. RIP Ironworks 😭

This was another spill, of Guinness. Less accidental but not exactly controlled.

When we were outside having various forms of fresh air, my very arty and supportive friend turned to a woman I didn't know and said "have you heard about this dress?!" As if it was something that was public knowledge 😄

I started telling her about it and asked her if she would be up for putting out a rollie on my dress. I think I may have promised her fame and fortune for it. I'd had a fair bit of fresh air at that point.

Afterwards, as she was walking away, I shouted "what's your name?"...

"It's ASH!"

So that stain will be forever called 'Ash's Ashes".

And now she has her fame 😄
