Dressing Up to Go Down South

It's the first annual Scotland Fashion Now event in Dundee this week and I'm currently on the bus with my eldest daughter. We were very nearly not on the bus but that's another story.
I'm dressed in jeans and a white t-shirt, with my black pointed high heeled boots and a red fur coat on. Not my usual travelling gear, but it's very normal to see people dressed up with makeup and party wear at the bus station in Inverness. Not common, but I think everyone gets it.
It's not just thinking about what to wear for the gig/theatre/event but also how to travel with or in your garments. Will it get crushed? Does the hotel have an iron? Can I even get to the hotel before the event or do I need to store my bag somewhere in the meantime? Can I handle walking to the hotel in these boots? (Probably not)
Then there's all the hair and makeup to think about. Thankfully my go-to hairstyle right now is to blow dry it and wrap it into a low bun with hair forks. Hopefully by the time we get there, it'll have a slight curl when I let it down.
When I was younger there would be all sorts of hair shit crammed into a bag to try and curl it at the hotel. I, and many other women, have gone down with hair in curlers under a wrap. Just like Granny.
I'm not sure Granny was going to flash Sergei from Kasabian in her 20s, but the method works all the same.

I only really start to feel out of place once I get away from the Inverness > Perth crowd, when I don't have the obvious explanation making excuses for my outfit choice.
But then, do I need an excuse?
